Mustangs at The Litchfield Corrals

As soon as I knew I was headed to CA, I really wanted to include mustangs in my travel plans. As TAMO’s photographer, it was a great opportunity to hightlight the mustangs. Since my introduction to them just a little over a year ago I have become a huge fan and advocate of the breed. From my location in Sacramento, The Litchfeied Corrals were the closest and it was going to be a haul. It ended up being an easy trip through beautiful countryside, a pitstop in Tahoe and finally to the doorstep of the corrals. I had spoken to Videll Retterath earlier in the week and scheduled my time to visit. Videll was very accomidating for my visit and shared a wealth of knowledge about the mustangs from her 25 years of employment with the BLM. She took a large portion of her aftenoon to show me around were we visited with many of the horses (which I was hoping to bring home). I was softly looking for a gelding for my mom and who knows what I would do if I found another I could not live without. It was overwhelming to see so many faces, I could not look at any of them with a discriminating eye. There were so many beautiful horses, I wish I had a place to bring them all!
